Dragon powered racer Jean-Eric Vergne was nominated by fans for the prestigious International Racing Driver of the year award earlier this month only to lose out to Lewis Hamilton.
To be held in such high esteem is only fitting for racer Jean-Eric after his meteoric rise through the ranks in Formula E which has made a lasting impression on fans and peers alike. Jean-Eric is in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyad to race in the inaugural Ad Diriyah ePrix on 15th December in what is set to be a unique experience.
The circuit is 1.76 miles long, features 21 corners and high-speed turns with relatively few 90-degree corners usually seen on championship street courses meaning that the course may have to be adapted to slow the cars down at certain points.
Dragon Ambassador Jean-Eric is relishing the race as he will be up against ex-Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa who will make his Formula E debut at the race.
Jean-Eric commented, “the fact that Saudi Arabia is opening up to international sports fans for the first time for Formula E is exciting news–it really shows the global appeal of motor racing.”
A unique system called ‘Sharek’, (similar to the platform used in Russia for the World Cup), will allow fans who buy a ticket for the race easy entry to the country.
Jean-Eric went on to say, "this new addition to the racing circuit shows how Formula E continues to grow and I'm really looking forward to representing Dragon in Saudi Arabia for the opening round of season five on December 15th.
