Light-heavyweight Dragon Ambassador and Royal Marine Commando George Crotty defends his title against Patrick Allen-Cripps tonight live on the BBC.  The action starts at 19:30 on the BBC Red Button service with the commentary being provided by Joshua Buatsi who is an Olympic Bronze Medalist (Rio 2016).

George is one of the ten men and women in the GB Boxing Squad part of competing in the GB Boxing Championships at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.

George’s score card boasts an impressive record of 91 wins from 108 fights, but this is his first time back in action since sustaining a deep cut over his eye when boxing in Belarus against his Ukrainian opponent.  The cut has healed really well but kept George out of the ring for three weeks but with five weeks solid sparring behind him he is ready to go toe to toe with Allen-Cripps (ENG) who is the winner of the 2018 Elite Three Nations competition.

The fight is set to be a contested at an electrifying pace because if Allen-Cripps beats George he will  secure the opportunity of an assessment to join the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) as a funded athlete.

George won this completion last year when he beat Harry Woods (ENG) so he will be defending his title and he says, “its going to be the battle of Britain where he who dares wins!”

The Dragon powered athlete goes on to add, “It’s great to work with such a tight knit team at Dragon and it is a massive help knowing I’ve got their support and backing.”
