This year’s conference is looking like it's going to be incredible with the Golf Tournament benefiting the John Marley Scholarships which were established in 2008 to provide educational opportunities for OIG employees and their families. The Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to the search for knowledge and the provision of scholarships for eligible individuals to attend accredited colleges, universities and trade schools in Oklahoma or other states. John Marley, a man instrumental in the development of the association, has been a vendor of everything from bingo daubers to electronic games has always put the interests of Oklahoma Indian Gaming above all else.
In the USA there are 566 federally recognised Indian Tribes and 240 Tribal Governments engaged in gaming which have created over 635,000 jobs, and in certain areas 80% of gaming employees are Indian. In Oklahoma specifically, there are 38 federally-recognised Indian Tribes engaged in 130 Tribal gaming operations of various sizes. Over 45 million people visit the gaming facilities in Oklahoma making it one of the most important areas for Tribal gaming generating a direct gaming output of $4.75 billion, accounting for 3% of the total state's output.
